Do me a favor, take a second and go vote for my brother's band.

My brother's band Cloud Archive made the top 10 finalists on MARY-KATEANDASHLEY.COM battle of the bands.
I haven't posted or have had interest in posting since August. It is now April and I figure I'll come back and start writing in here again.

Since last time I wrote I got a "real" job working at Woodcock Washburn Kurtz Mackiewicz & Norris LLP which is an Intellectual Property Law Firm here in Philadelphia. I work in Support Services which is just a fancy way of saying I do odd jobs like set up conference rooms, copy documents, and run mail. On top of that I also book shows, started a record label, have been painting and writing music alot. To sum it all up.... I've actually been productive lately, and I feel really good about that. I also finaly got a cell phone, which for those of you that know me well is a big deal.

my goals for the next 6 months:
- start band(s)
- paint more/set up art show
- put records out
- tie up some loose ends from a while back
- save money to be use on a house in a year or two
- learn new skills

If you can help me with any of this or just want to say hi get ahold of me.

- Dave

I want to just give up on life right now. No, really.

My new housemate came home after being gone for a week and a half. I was waiting on him to get home so that I could get my deposit money back and then use it to move in a couple days. The last time I talked to him was the night before he left. He said that before he left he would go to the bank and get the whole deposit for me. Now he's saying he doesn't have it... he doesn't even have half of it. That now puts me from $140 I needed back up to $500 that I need to make by the 1st.

Yes, I want to just give up. Meh.

- I'm moving to another house in West Philly. I don't know how it came about or why I'm moving, but I'm kind of excited, releived, & bummed about it for different reasons. It should be good for me. The people in this house seem like they're into similar things as me and will encourage/support me in my decisions. Not to mention that it's $5 more a month and my bedroom has it's own bathroom.

- I'm about $240 short of what I need to be able to move. I have about a month extra time before I need to pay that money, but I'd much rather pay it ASAP. I don't like to owe people things, especially money. With that said I'll be selling off alot of shirts and records in the coming days. Look for an update with my list.

- I'm looking into buying several things in the near future, including but not limited to a cell phone, and a bike. I like to have a way for people to get in touch with me, and I'd like to get around without walking everywhere.

- The first release on my new label Audio Illusions will be a tape for No Sanctuary. Look for more updates on that as things progress.

several things running through my head:

01. the internet at my house hasn't worked for over a week. usually this would be a good thing, except for the fact that i find all my "jobs" through the internet. hence aside from working shows, i haven't had any income for over a week.

02. i've been trying to book alot of shows since being back in philly, some of them work out for the best, however the ones i've really wanted to do haven't worked out due to lack of show spaces in philly. it makes me really sad. so far i've had to let down surrender, hostile takeover, bafabegiya, both blind, taiga, and several others. i guess this is a sort of appology... i swear i worked hard trying to find a show for each band.

03. working shows in a non collective atmosphere gives me a new take on everything i've learned while working at gilman. i'm not positive if its good or bad just yet, but i will say that a whole new world has opened up to me.

04. i have a crush (to varying degrees) on 3 females. two live in philly and the other lives out of state. while realizing this, i also realized that i don't really know how to express myself when it comes to matters of love/infatuation. this is something that i really need to work on. i feel like i am doomed to be single my entire life. nothing ever seems like it really works out for me.

05. i got an air conditioner today because i couldn't take the humidity anymore. i have a feeling that i will be spending alot more time in my room this summer.

06. i got a couple movies the other day, one of them being the aristocrats. i haven't laughed so much in a long time.

Knibb High School Football Rules!!!

In this entry we will talk about:
So before people get all pissy over trivial shit let me say that I edited my myspace friends list. I cut out 127 people/companies/bands. The reason for this is because I've really grown to dislike that website. I keep it around because I've found that it is a useful tool. I've edited it down to people that I keep in touch with, or have no other way to contact. As far as bands go, you really should delete your account, but the ones that I kept on my friends list are bands that I know, or bands that I've booked/are currently booking. Its really funny that 20 min after I edited my account I had 2 new messages asking why I was no longer friends with those people. IT'S THE INTERNET, GET OVER IT.

Philly has been pretty cool so far. In the past month and a half I've done the following for money: put dinosaurs together, play video games, talk about food, fill out questionaires, swallowed a caffine pill, sold CDs, & worked the door/did security at shows. Life is awesome. Philly is awesome. Humidity sucks. The End.

Hey you. Yeah you... know anyone that wants to trade records? I'm looking for the following records:
Charles Bronson - Youth Attack! w/Porn Sleeve
Charles Bronson - Youth Attack! w/ Metal Sleeve
Charles Bronson / Unanswered split 7" - 1st press w/manilla folder cover
Reality Vol 3 Comp. - Black
Skeletal Festival 7"
Crimpshrine - Lame Gig Contest
Fucked Up - Anything I Don't Have
Town Of Hardcore Fanzine #6 w/7"

The following bands are awesome: Charles Bronson, Crimpshrine, Fucked Up, Infest, Look Back And Laugh, Never Healed, Owen Hart, Rocket Attack, Sidetracked

I miss Oakland. I miss Gilman. I don't miss drama.

So I'm back in Philadelhia after 25 days on tour with Acts Of Sedition. The tour was alot of fun. I got to see alot of people I haven't seen in a long time, and I also met alot of awesome people on this tour. Philadelphia is awesome so far. The weather is perfect and theres beem alot of good shows the past 2 weeks and in the near future. Heres a tour journal of sorts. After I get the full thing done with stories and such, I'll be putting it in a zine with a few other things.

4/13 - Oakland, Ca - Look Back And Laugh, Fleshies, Acts Of Sedition, Marc Antony, Heavy Artillery, Cropduster. All the bands were good, but really this was my last chance to see my friends one last time before I moved. Fleshies played their song "Asshole" for me, and I was happy and honored that they did that.
4/14 - Reno, Nv - Bafabegiya, Acts Of Sedition, See It Through, Tonight We Ride. We got to Reno a little late after a crazy deathride. Unfortunately we missed Tonight We Ride. I say unfortunately because it turns out that their demo is in the top three demos of tour. After the show we hung out for a while and then went to sleep.
4/15 - Provo, Ut - Parallax, Bafabegiya, Acts Of Sedition, Greyskull, Bullshit Authority, Rail Spike (others I may be forgetting). This was a benefit for the Donner-Galbraith Scholorship. Needless to say it was awesome. Alot of friends, alot of good bands. Bullshit Authority stole the show for me, and actually was another of the top three demos of tour. After the show we went to the Cunningham House and hung out/ate good food. Some people went to go swimming, I hung out some more with Jules and then fell asleep under the stairs. When I woke up I realised that I was sleeping on an air vent. My face had a waffle pattern on it.
4/16 - Colorado Spriongs, Co - Acts Of Sedition, Marla Singer Was Dead. My grandparents taught me that if I don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
4/17 - Lawrence, Ks - Acts Of Sedition + 3 local bands (sorry I forgot your names). This show was insane. The End.
4/18 - MLPS, Mn - No show... Drive Day/Hang Out In MLPS.
4/19 - MLPS, Mn - The Holy Mountain, Ganglion, Acts Of Sedition, Fits Of Fury. - Holy Mountain ruled so hard. I've been waiting a long time to see them. The place was cool, and everyone was so friendly. After the show Will and I took a walk and then went to sleep.
4/20 - Milwaukee, Wi - Period Three, Acts Of Sedition, Typhoid Mary (others i forget). Got to the show just in time to see Typhoid Mary who were awesome. I hung out with this dude Brad who is from Philly. During the show there was a fight with some homeboy and 2 trannies. Alot of shit talking and then all of a sudden one of the trannies bust a bottle over homeboy's head. After that Will and I went to Robert's house. Ate some food and then went to bed. In the morning I made my contribution to Robert's basement and then we left.
4/21 - Chicago, Il - The Pedestrians, Acts Of Sedition, Regress, I Attack. All the bands were cool. It was a wierd vibe the whole show, but as soon as it ended everyone was really friendly. We went to get mexican food with the No Slogan guys and then came back and went to sleep.
4/22 - Madison, Wi Oroku, Suruk, Wartorn, Acts Of Sedition + 2 more. This show was in some warehouse in the middle of nowhere Madison. It was cool but seemed really sketchy. Will and I got burritos as Clint and Al got drunk. After the show we went to some house were pretty much the whole show moved to. Drunk people everywhere. Good times.
4/23 - Fort Wayne, In - Acts Of Sedition + 2 bands. I didn't get to see any of the bands this night. Everyone at the show bought something from us and were all really friendly. I like this place alot.
4/24 - Grand Rapids, Mi - Black Birds, Acts Of Sedition, Ash Dance. This was a cool show. My friend Kevin came by to hang out which was even cooler. After the show we hung out with Black Birds for a little bit and then went to the house we were staying at. Clint and I walked down to the bar Kevin works at and hung out for a second, then walked back and went to sleep.
4/25 - Ypsilanti, Mi Acts Of Sedition + 1 more. We went to Ann Arbor and walked around for a bit. Got some food and then headed to Ypsilanti. We thought there was no show, but were gonna hang out. When we got there Josh told us that we could possibily do a show in his friends bedroom. So we did it. 2 bands total. People hung out, and it was actually pretty cool. Afterwards a few of us went to a diner and ate, then walked back and went to sleep.
4/26 - Pittsburgh, Pa - No show this day, so we decided to drive to Pittsburgh and try and jump on a Defiance, Ohio show. We got there and weren't able to jump on, but we decided to hang out anyway. The show was ok, but the food was great. Afterwards Ryan from Defiance, Ohio gave us $40 for gas, which was totally unexpected and really awesome. We tried to find a place to stay, and after about 45 min of looking some guy hooked us up with his friend. We got to the house and knocked on the door for a good 10 miniutes before giving up. Right as we were walking to the car Intense Andy called us and said we could stay with him. We met up with him, went to his house, and after some good food... went to sleep.
4/27 - Bethelhem, Pa - Carpenter Ant, Acts Of Sedition, + 2 local bands. Went to Double Decker Records. We all got some records from there, and I made a mental note to go back as soon as I have money and buy some stuff out of the "collectors box". Got to the club and hung out with Chris (the booker) for about 35 min ebefore people started showing up. The show was fun, Carpenter Ant ruled as always. Afterwards we went to the house we were staying at. About 5 min later we all got back into the van and headed over to a movie theatre where Chris works and watched a private screening of Goonies. Went back to the house and fell asleep.
4/28 - Philadelphia, Pa - Victims, Kylesa, A.O.S., Withered, Acts Of Sedition. No show this day so we decided to head to Philly to unload my stuff and try and jump on the Kylesa show. Got to my house and unloaded, then hung out for a bit. Headed over to the show and tried to jump on. Todd from Fighting Dogs was booking the show, and he decided that it was ok. We unloaded the equipment and I set up the merch outside in the back yard. The show was awesome. I got to see a few people before they left for the summer, and I was really happy about that. Afterwards we went back to my house and then I walked Al, Clint, & 3 of Clint's friends over to a party at another house. By the time i got back I was more than ready for sleep.
4/29 - New York, Ny - Victims, Fighting Dogs, Acts Of Sedition, Burial Year. This was the day I was looking forward to. My first chance to actually go inside of ABC No Rio instead of just seeing it from the outside. We got there right as Burial Year was starting. I watched 2 songs and then set up merch. The show was awesome and I got to see more friends I hadn't seen in a long time. To my suprise Track Mike lives with Ryan Blotto and Sonia, so we got to hang out a bunch. Everyone at the house we stayed at was awesome.
4/30 - Brooklyn, Ny - Acts Of Sedition + 2 more. Woke up and walked down to the bodega. Came back and people were starting to wake up. There was a show/BBQ. This day was a blur Hung out with Nate, Mikey, and the housemates... watched a couple bands, played scrabble (finally!). It was alot of fun.
5/01 - Hang Out In NY - Woke up and hung out with the band. Al and Clint did laundry while Will and I got things together to pack the van. We headed for the Metro to go to the protest march. Met up with everyone from the house and we marched for about 2 hours. Afterwards we headed over to get Indian food and then back to the house. It was a good night until I threw up more than I ever have in my life.
5/02 - Boston, Ma - Acts Of Sedition, Dead Radical, + 1 more. We got to Regeneration Records a little bit early so we went to get food. Will and I got vegan pizza and Al and Clint got chinese food from grasshopper. Both were REALLY good. When we got back Matt Leiber was there and so was Jeff Bramhall. The show was alot of fun. Afterwards we went to the house we were staying at, hung out for a little bit and then went to bed.
5/03 - Worcester, Ma - Acts Of Sedition, All Those Opposed, + 2 or 3 more. This show was insane. I was set up in the back of the basement. While Acts Of Sedition was playing I was literally dodging beer bottles and people. Everyone went ape shit. Then after the show the party started. Thats when I took a walk with Will and then went to sleep.
5/04 - Oswego, Ny - Black Mast, Acts Of Sedition. This show was awesome. For one, who has ever heard of Oswego, Ny having shows. Not me. The other band, Black Mast was SO good. I've listened to this demo so much already. Everyone at the house was really cool. Al and Clint went to a party around the corner from the house and a few of us hung out for a while. I decided to go over and see what was going on at the party, and when I walked in the door the first thing I saw was Al freak dancing with some girl. Then someone asked me a question and I turned back again and both Al and Clint were freak dancing the girl. BEST THING EVER. I convinced Al to do the robot man from the Chapelle Show. After that I had seen enough and went back to go to sleep.
5/05 - Pittsburgh, Pa - Fuckedupmess, Warzone Women, Acts Of Sedition. We got to the show a little late, but still got to see all the bands. Warzone Women blew me away. I've waited for a while to see them, and it was better than I was expecting. Thats all I remember about this night.
5/06 - Hang Out In Pittsburgh - We decided to stay in Pittsburgh and see the show that night at the Mr Roboto Project. When we got to the show we were suprised by Burial Year who had just jumped on the show. Pedestrians, No Slogan, Storm The Tower, & Brain Handle also played the show. I'd have to say that while on tour, this was the best show we were at. Every band was so good. Afterwards we went to Mad Mex and got some food and then back to the house to sleep.
5/07 - Philadelphia, Pa - Finally the homecoming. We got to Jen's house and I got to hang out with Mary Beth. No Sanctuary played and blew me away, then my last time seeing Acts Of Sedition for a long time. It was awesome, but I was really sad. Syzslak also played and blew people away. This was a fun show, but I was more happy to be back home.

Other than that I've moved in to my house. I still need a shelf for my LPs, but other than that I'm settled in. I also need a job or a way to make some money for my bills. I miss my friends in California, but I've learned that its better for me to be here until I feel like I'm done with whatever it is I have to do out here.

My birthday was fun. I spent it hanging out with some friends. Friday there was a show for my birthday. Love Songs, Whiskey Sunday, Young Lions, Abi Yoyos, & Surrender played. Speaking of Surrender, it was their first show, and they blew everyone away. An awesome band that I'd reccomend everyone check out if they get the chance.

In upcoming news, I will be on tour with Acts Of Sedition from Thursday April 13th to Sunday May 7th. If we're in your town or close by you should come say hi. The tour is looking awesome already. Some of the bands we'll be sharing this time with are: Look Back And Laugh, Fleshies, Bafabegiya, Holy Mountain, Victims, & The Pedestrians.

I'm packing all my stuff up getting ready to move. What I don't bring with me I'll be selling off to make some money and to save space. I'll have a full list soon of everything I'm getting id of. Alot of it will be sold at the Punk Rock Flea Market held at 924 Gilman on March 26th.
